Description:
BLOEMFONTEIN is a city in South Africa situated in the Free-State province. BLOEMFONTEIN is also called “the judicial capital of the country”. In the middle of the XIX century there was built a farm, named BLOEMFONTEIN that means “spring with flowers”. The official date of the foundation is 1846. Thanks to gold and uranium deposits Bloemfontein turned into a flourishing industrial center. It has metalworking, glasswork, food industry, tobacco enterprises, university and observatory. Not far from Bloemfontein there is th national park Golden Gate Highlands. In the city itself visit the town hall, women memorial and cherry garden in the Hamilton park. By the way, the author of the famous trilogy “The Lord of the Rings” J.R.R.Tolkien was born there.

Climate is continental, it is characterized by cool winter and warm summer.Transport
In 1980 there was built a railroad line connecting Bloemfontein with Capetown. Today there is one more line to Johannesburg. Bloemfontein has Bloemfontein Airport.
