NAGOYA
Description:
Nagoya is the 4th most populated city in Japan and one of the biggest ports of the country and in addition the center of machine building. It was found as a fort in 1610. Although majority of guests doesn’t include “middle capital” in their route (Japanese call Nagoya in this way because of its location between former capital Kyoto and present Tokyo) there are things to see: old castle, one of the most important Shinto sanctuaries, big gallery of Chinese porcelain, architectural open air museum, oceanarium and more.
Climate
The best time to visit Nagoya is spring (from March to May) and autumn (from October to November). In these months weather is stable without serious fluctuations. Climate of the area is temperate continental. Summer is humid and hot. Most precipitations occur in June, July and September (220 mm each month). Average August temperature is 28C. Winter is dry and quite cold, average January temperature is 4C.Transport
You can reach Nagoya by plane, train or bus. The newest international airport in Japan (Centrair) is only 35 km away from Nagoya. It is situated on the artificial island and serves weekly 430 flights from 32 cities of Europe, Asia, Australia, America and 22 Japanese cities. Railway station after its opening was entered in The Guinness Book of Records as the biggest building with the railway station in the world. This is the hub station for high-speed Shinkaisoku trains. Using Shinkaisoku you can reach Tokyo (2 hours, faster than by plane), Osaka (1 hour), Kyoto (44 min), and Hiroshima (3 hours). Also there are plenty of usual trains to Nara, Nagano, Matsumoto, Takayama and other. From the bus station buses run to Kyoto (2,5 hours), Osaka (3 hours), Kanazawa (4 hours) and Tokyo (6 hours).
