Pattaya is a popular tourist destination, a city on the southeast coast of the Gulf of Thailand. U-TAPAO Airport is located 30 km. south of the city -but it serves a small number of flights, and the nearest major Suvarnabhumi airport is in Bangkok, 1.5 hours drive from Pattaya. The city itself, whose central part with all entertainments occupies about 3 km. of coastline, is easy to explore on foot. For longer distances you can take advantage of ubiquitous low-cost taxi, motorcycle taxi, and the famous songthaews- trucks converted into buses.
