Description:
Cheung Chau is a small island near Hong Kong with a population of about 20,000 residents. Its name literally is translated as "Long Island", but because of its characteristic shape, Cheung Chau is often called "dumbbell". The island consists of two clusters of granite hills, connected by a sand spit, on which the residential part of the town is located. Cheung Chau attractions can be viewed within few hours. Chief among them are several interesting temples, caves, where pirates hid their treasures and rock paintings. But tourists come here in search for quiet atmosphere of rest, good beaches and numerous specific seafood restaurants.

The climate of Cheung Chau is of subtropical type with high humidity and hot summer seasons.Transport
The main way to get to the island - is to go be ferry from the Main Ferry Terminal of Hong Kong. The island is so small, and its streets are so narrow that the main mode of transport here is bicycle.
