Description:
The biggest city of the western state Gujarat, one of the seven Indian metropolises and the home of Mahatma Gandhi. Ahmedabad was founded in the 15th century on the territory of the ancient town and for some time it was a capital. Ahmedabad got its name after one of the Gujarati sultans who built their magnificent palaces there. As many other Indian cities Ahmedabad can boast of its very interesting and rich history. Being part of the British Empire favoured its rapid development, the city was even called ‘an eastern Manchester’, and in the 20th century it became one of the major centres in the fight for the national independence. Ahmedabad is a multiconfessional city, which couldn’t help but influenced its architecture. The Sidi Saiyyed Mosque is a vivid example of a combination of Muslim and Hindu styles. Other places of interest include the swinging minarets of the Rajpur Bibi Mosque and the Sidi Bashir Mosque. Ahmedabad is an attractive world destination: goods of the unique beauty that were produced on the factories of the British Empire times can be seen in one of the textile museums of the city. One can buy souvenirs in a popular local marketplace situated on the Sabarmati riverban, it is open on Sundays.

Can be described as a full of contrasts: winters get high rainfall accompanied by strong winds that sometimes lead to floods. In summer months the temperature may get as high as 40°С.Transport
One can get to Ahmedabad by plane. The airport hosting domestic and international flights is located in 15 km from the city, it has a direct connection to many major cities of Asia and The Middle East. There also direct flights to European cities: Frankfurt, Paris, London. Ahmedabad is a part of the western railway that provides the rail connection to other major cities of the region. One can also get to Ahmedabad by car: there’s a national highway №8 that goes through the city and connects Delhi with Mumbai.
