According to the list issued by Forbes Mumbai is the most densely populated city of the planet. More than 14 Million people reside here on the territory of a bit more than 600 sq. km. Thus each square kilometre of this as it’s usually called ‘Indian Manhattan and Hollywood’ hosts up to 23.217 city dwellers! The city’s good geographical position favoured its rapid development and popularity among tourists. Mumbai is situated on the coast of the Arabian sea at the mouth of the river Ulhas. The city is an important transportation junction and the largest seaport in the west of India. Mumbai can also boast of its rich history: first settlements date back to the Stone Age, later on it was ruled by the Hindu dynasties. The city was christianized by the Portuguese, it was rented by the British East India Company and since this very time it is known to the world the way it looks nowadays. Modern Mumbai is a city of contrasts, a major administrative, financial, trading and industrial centre, a multi-ethnic metropolis.

Is represented by auto rickshaws, as well as local trains and commuter trains, some of them have both first and second class, the rest are third-class trains. According to the tourists, this is not the most attractive means of travelling here, as trains are slow and are too popular with the locals. There’s also a big bus fleet in Mumbai. Buses go to the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport every 15-20 minutes. The second airport planned to ease the first one is currently under construction.
