DARJILING

Description:

Darjeeling is a popular resort in India situated in the Eastern Himalayas on the height of about 2000 m above the sea level. Originally it was built as a British colonial mountain station. Darjeeling is known first of all for the sort of tea of the same name. Among attractions are the circular road Bhanu Bhakta Sarani, big Tibetan monastery Thupten Sangha Chöling, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the main road (the Mall), Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, light Darjeeling Himalayan Railway and the most famous Windamere Hotel.

Through the city passes the light railway (it is the UNESCO World Heritage list). This road connects Darjeeling with Singapore.
