Udaipur is a town in a Rajasthan state, one of the main tourist centres of the western India. The rich history of Udaipur amounts five centuries. Founded as a fortress against the devastating Mogols attacks, Udaipur was once a capital of Mewar Kingdom, and thanks to this status it can boast of its beautiful architecture. Due to its five picturesque lakes Udaipur got a name of ‘The Lake city’. It is there where luxurious palaces, the former residences of the local princes, are situated. Many of them are turned into elite hotels. Udaipur is glorious by its handicraft industry famous for textiles, lace, carved-out-of-wood pictures that can be purchased in local craftsmen shops or in the old marketplace.

One can get to Udaipur by plane, the local airlines operate domestic flights. the Dabok Airport, known as Maharana Pratap Airport, underwent modernization and since 2011 it hosts international flights too. One can either take a train to reach Udaipur, it has a railway connection with major Indian cities. Buses, taxis, auto rickshaws and tongas, the Indian two-wheeled carts, can be used for getting round the city.
