Description:
Bandung is the capital of Western Java province and the third largest city in Indonesia. It is situated on the height of 768 m above sea level and has colder weather in comparison with other areas of the country. Bandung is surrounded by volcanic mountains and this panoramic scene makes the city protected. Bandung is famous for colonial Dutch architecture, the main style here is tropic Art Deco. Local European architecture has evident Indonesian tinge that gives charm to the city. The most notable buildings are Bandung Technology Institute and Gedung Sate (a former municipality building), the both combine East and West in their appearance. The main culture of the region is Sundanese, its language is most used here. Variety of local cuisine, beautiful landscape, charming architecture, shopping – these all are not all advantages of Bandung.
Climate
Climate is tropic wet monsoon. Rain season lasts from November to April and brings serious precipitations. Dry season is short. Because of high location of Bandung weather here is colder than in other parts of the country.Transport
The nearest airport is Hussein Sastranegara. Jakarta airport Soekarno-Hatta is bigger but it is situated 3 hours drive from Bandung. Bandung is connected with Jakarta and Surabaya by railroad that is managed by PT Kereta Api Indonesia company. You can get around the city by bus or motorbike.
