Description:
Yogyakarta is a city in Indonesia on the Java island. It is one of the cultural centers of the country, was found in 1756. Yogyakarta is the center of classic Javanese art – batik, ballet, drama, poetry, music and puppet theatre. This city was the capital of Indonesia during the independence war (1945-1949). Center of the city is craton, or sultan palace. Not far from the palace there are former sultan gardens (Taman Sari) and remains of old fortifications. On the south of Yogyakarta you can see Dutch colonial architecture, this is the modern part of the city. Dutch fort (Benteng Vredeburg) has preserved part of its armament. Yogyakarta has many museums, ancient temples and other cultural heritage objects. For example, Kotagede, the old capital of Mataram country; Imogiri, old cemetery of Javanese nobility and more. Not far from Yogyakarta there are majestic temples Borobudur and Prambana, they are included in the UNESCO World Heritage list and attracts thousands of tourists.

Climate is tropical monsoon. Rain season lasts from October to June and brings serious precipitations. Dry season is from July to September.Transport
Yogyakarta is served by Adisucipto International Airport that provides only domestic flights. There are two railway stations that connects city with Surabaya and Jakarta. You can get around dthe city bybus and motor bikes.
