ISTANBUL
Description:
As it is known, the largest city of Turkey Istanbul in antecedents was Constantinople and New Rome, so, the capital of the Roman and Byzantian empire and one of strongholds of the Christian world that leave its mark. This time has left set of architecture monuments that have remained to this day though some of them have undergone changes. Merge together two world cultures gives to a city unique charm. The basic sights are concentrated in the oldtown. There rises the Hagia Sophia Cathedral to which minarets have been attached and the cathedral became a mosque. However, this fate overtook many Christian churches. Near to this cathedral-mosque there is an ancient residence of the Ottoman sultan, object of tourists regard. In the same place there is Sultan Ahmed Mosque, is one of the two mosques in Turkey that has six minarets and one of few accessible to tourists. But to tell about sights of Istanbul is as good as to retell all its history from the first days. Not without reason it`s often called a museum city.
