Description:

Karlovy Vary or Karlsbad is a health resort with the world known name. Many famous persons of XVIII, XIX and XX centuries received treatment and rest here: Peter the Great, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Karl Marx, Nikolai Gogol, Goethe, Mark Twain, Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Johannes Brahms, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and many other. Today vip persons on the resort are not uncommon too, Karlsbad Aristocratic Week is held annually and gathers all European nobility. Resort itself was found in 1370 and dwellers already knew about healing properties of local springs. The total amount of springs is 12, but local residents joke that the also have the 13th health spring – famous liqueur Becherovka that was invented exactly here. Except health baths and mineral water you will find many interesting here.

International airport is 4,5 km away from Karlovy Vary, it provides regular flights to many big European cities including Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Prague. Bus #8 run from airport to the bus terminal in the town. Buses from bus terminal run to Prague and many cities of the country. From railway station trains go to Prague (train is twice slower than bus, journey takes 4 hours), central part of the country and to the border with Germany. Once a week trains from Nuremberg, Frankfurt and Amsterdam passes through the town. Also there is daily carriage from Moscow.
