EISENACH

Description:

Eisenach is a German city in the Thuringia land between Thuringia Forest and National Park. According to the old legend in 1067 there was built the Wartburg castle and there was three settlements around it. These settlements united with each other and formed a city Eisenach. Therefore the most famous landmark here is the Wartburg castle, it is in the UNESCO World Heritage list. Other interesting monuments are the church built in 1180 (Georgenkirche), the church built in Gothic style and rebuilt into neo Romanesque style (Nikolaikirche), castle Stadtschloss and fontain der Schwarze Brunnen in memory of the dead after the explosure of three cars loaded with powder. Eisenach is a green city, have a stroll around its numerous parks: Kartausgarten, Landschaftspark Dürrerhof and Landschaftspark Roesesches Hölzchen.

Transport

Eisenach is the stop on the railroad line Thüringer Bahn, it has its own railway station Bahnhof Eisenach. 12 km away from the city there is Flugplatz Eisenach-Kindel airport, also you can use Flughafen Erfurt, Flughafen Frankfurt and Flughafen Leipzig-Halle airports. You can get around the city by trams and buses.
