ERFURT
Description:
Erfurt is an administrative centre of Thuringia. It is located on the bank of River Gera in the centre of Germany. The population is about 204 thousand persons. The city is known for medieval temples – the Erfurt cathedral and Severikirche. There is also a famous bridge Kremerbrücke on the river Gera, constructed in 1325. An Erfurt synagogue of 11 centuries is the most ancient of not destroyed synagogues in Europe. There are also located two Universities – the successor of the Historical University and the University of Applied Sciences successfully combining science and practice.
Climate
Climate is temperate. The warmest months are July and August - the temperature rises to 23°C, the coldest month is February – the temperature goes down to-4°C. The driest month is March, the most rainy month is June.Transport
The main long-distance transport is a railway (from Berlin, Dresden, Frankfurt, Leipzig, etc.). The airport is located in Erfurt, but performs only transit function.
