Description:

Erlangen is a German city in the Bavaria land on the Regnitz River. The city is known as the home to Friedrich Alexander University. Also several branches of Siemens concern are located in Erlangen. Science researches didn’t show the origin of the city name. Erlangen has its own theatre troupe, the majority of performances you can see on the scene of Markgrafentheater, in addition there is a private theatre with experimental shows (Kleinkunstbühne „Fifty-Fifty“). While staying in the Erlangen visit the city museum Stadtmuseum in the town hall building, Art Museum in the palace Loewenich%27schen Palais and Art Museum in the palace Palais Stutterheim. There are plans to open one more museum, Museum of Culture, Technology, Medicine and Science (Museum für Kultur und Technik der Medizin, Kunst und Wissenschaft).

Climate

Climate is a mixture of maritime and continental types. Precipitations are light, average temperature is 8,5C, which means warm. Fog is frequent during the whole year.

Transport

Railroad started functioning in 1844, there are direct trains to most of the big German cities. From 2010 electric trains run from Forchheim to Nuremberg with the stop in Erlangen. The city has its own airport. Nuremberg international airport is also very close, you can get there by bus, metro, taxi or a train.
