GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN

Description:

Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a ski resort center in the federal district in Bavaria. It has not the official status of a city, although its population is more than 26 000 people. Is also a large fair center. Medieval style dominates in the architecture. Houses are decorated with drawings. The Richard Strauss Festival is regularly held here. The main sights are the Partnachklamm (a gorge) and Zugspitzbahn - a railway line leading to the Zugspitze - the highest mountain in Germany.

Climate

There is the lowland climate with small annual rainfall. High humidity is associated with a large number of water sources.

Transport

It is very easy to reach the city from Munich - by the railway, or on a built through the scenic mountains highway. Can also be reached by train from Tyrol.
