Description:
Constance is the most famous city on the Lake Constance. It is situated in Germany in the Baden-Württemberg land. Constance stands on three bays in the same time and borders upon Switzerland. Constance received its name thanks to a roman castle that used to be there and that had the name of a famous commander. You can watch the castle ruins on the square near the Cathedral (Münster Unserer Lieben Frau). City symbol is the revolving statue “Empire” that was erected on the Lake Constance bank. The statue represents a courtesan that hold two dwarfs in her hands, one of them wears a crown (royal power) and the other wears a tiara (church power). The most famous hotel of the city is Steigenberger Inselhotel, it is the former Dominican monastery “Gosse Dangeon”.

The nearest airports are Flughafen Friedrichshafen (30 km by ferry), Flughafen St. Gallen-Altenrhein (in Switzerland, 40 km), Flughafen Zürich-Kloten (in Switzerland, 75 km) and Flughafen Stuttgart (150 km). Ferry communication is well developed. Electric trains network “Seehas” connects Constance with the nearest towns. Constance also has a railway station Bahnhof Konstanz which is the last stop on the Hochrheinbahn line.
