Description:
The city of Mannheim is the centre of the Rhine-Neckar region. It is located in the northwest of Baden-Württemberg. It borders upon Giessen and Rhineland-Palatinate. This city is situated on the right bank of Rhine and on the both banks of Neckar. It is the largest river port of Europe. The population is about 311 thousand inhabitants. The castle in Baroque style is now the main building of the city university. The Town hall and the «Wasserturm» Water tower are the symbols of Mannheim. The city is also famous for the Mannheim chapel. The main event is the annual international film festival Mannheim – Heidelberg.
