MUNSTER
Description:
The town in North Rhine-Westphalia. There are administrative and judicial institutions of the federal land in Munster: the Constitutional and Supreme Administrative Courts. The first settlement on this site appeared in 793, when a monastery was founded by order of Charlemagne around his castle. From the Latin «monasterium» descends the name of the city. Munster became a town in 1170. In 1358 there was a first mention of Munster as a member of the Hanseatic League. Munster is a university town. In its schools trained over 50 000 students.
