OBERSTDORF

Description:

Mountain resort in the Allgäu Alps, on the border with Austria. There are held many competitions in ski sports. Located in the mountains of Bavaria at a height of 813 meters. A large part of Oberstdorf is a pedestrian zone. The city is not only a sports mecca, but also a ski resort, which attracts a wide variety of tourists there. In Oberstdorf functiones the famous ski-jump Hein Klopfer. It hosts many international competitions. Those who just want to relax can go Alps or plain-country skiing, snowmobiling, sleigh riding. Lakes are attractive to the fans of ice skating. The resort has also many hiking trails, with a total length more than140 kilometers. There is a water park there, which stays the whole year round.

Climate

The ski season lasts from mid December to mid April. In winter, temperatures fall slightly below zero. There is warm and sunny during the summer in the mountains.

Transport

The city is located one hundred and eighty kilometers from Munich, two hundred km from Stuttgart and two hundred and twenty km to Zurich. All these cities have their own airports. Oberstdorf can be reached by train from any of these cities and also from Berlin, Dresden etc.
