PASSAU
Description:
Passau is a German university town with the population of about 50 thousand people. It is situated in the Bavaria land. Passau stands on the intersection of 3 rivers. One fifth of the population is students of the Passau University that was found in 1978. Some time before the town was the capital of the same name episcopacy in the membership of the Holy Roman Empire. The main landmarks are St Stephen Cathedral (Stefanskirche) with the biggest organ in the world, Old and New residence (Alte Residenz, Neue Residenz), Upper and Lower Castle (Veste Oberhaus, Veste Niederhaus), Niedernburg monastery, Mariahilf monastery and of course Passau University.

Passau has a railway station (Hauptbahnhof Passau) with the intersection of lines from Germany and Austria (Deutsche Bahn and Österreichische Bundesbahnen). From 3 city rivers only Danube is navigable and there are no passenger opportunities available. You can get around the city by bus or minibus (Verkehrsbetriebsgesellschaft Passau)
