REIT IM WINKL

Description:

Reit im Winkl is a German commune situated in the Bavaria land, it is one of the most famous health resorts of the country. It started developing as a tourist center from the moment when Bavarian King Maximilian II came here in 1858. Except standard German people here also speak Tyrolean dialect. Theatre lovers are recommended to visit Bauerntheater with its traditional weekly comedies. The only one museum here is historic (Hausenhäusl), there you can learn about peasants everyday life. Outstanding architecture monuments are Kirche St. Pankratius church, chapel in Blindau, Oberbichl and Entfelden, evangelical church Bergkirchlein and Kirche St. Johann church.

Reit im Winkl can be reached through the autobahn Bundesautobahn 8. The nearest airpors are in Munich (140 km) and Salzburg (70 km). The nearest railway stations are Bernau am Chiemsee, Übersee am Chiemsee and Prien am Chiemsee (you can get there by bus).
