STRALSUND
Description:
Stralsund is a Germany port city in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania land situated on the Baltic Sea coast, exactly on the bank of Strelasund channel. The city is often called “gates to the Rügen Island”. The population is about 60 thousand people. Historical center of Stralsund is in the UNESCO World Heritage list. The city was found in the XIII century and was the member of Hanseatic League. While staying here visit the Oceanographic Museum (Meersmuseum) where 36 aquariums present underwater life from all over the world, then go to Natureum Museum and nature park Vorpommersche Boddenlandschafton that is situated on the city outskirts on the seashore. From historic buildings stand out churches Marienkirche, Nikolaikirche and Jakobikirche, Town hall (Stralsunder Rathaus) and Commandant House (Commandantenhus).

Stralsund can be reached by car from Rügen through the Rügenbrücke Bridge or Bundesstraßen B 105 from Rostock. City is served by 2 railway stations: Stralsund Hbf and Stralsund-Rügendamm. Also you can get to Stralsund by ferry. The nearest airports are Ostseeflughafen Stralsund-Barth, Flughafen Rostock-Laage and Flugplatz Stralsund.
