Description:

Ulm is situated in Germany in the Baden-Württemberg land, 90 km from Stuttgart. Ulm is a big economic center as it has well developed industry. Ulm has a population of about 120 thousand people. It was first mentioned in documents in 854, from XIII century it is the free imperial city (Reichsstadt). Ulm has rich history, archeologists find things related to the late Stone Age. The main Ulm attraction is the highest cathedral in the world (Münster, 161 m). The construction of the cathedral took several centuries with the interruption between 1494 and 1885. Art connoisseurs will find many things to do in Ulm as there are plenty of various museums, theatres and open air exhibitions. Modern structures also deserve some attention, don’t miss City house (Stadthaus), House of Mind (Haus der Sinne) and the building of bank Sparkassen-Gebäude.

Climate

Ulm is often called “the foggy kingdom”. Average year temperature is 8C. Precipitations make 745 mm a year. Because of the proximity of Danube and Iller River Ulm often suffers from floods.

Transport

There are several highways passing through the city so it is easy to rech Ulm by car. Exceprt roads there are a lot of pedestrian zones in the city. Railway station Hauptbahnhof Ulm is a very important transportation hub. There are several trams and buses serving the city. The nearest airports are in Stuttgart (80 km) and Munich (160 km).
