USEDOM
Description:
Usedom is a German city situated in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on the south-western part of the island of the same name on the shore of Lake Usedomer See. The name of the city comes from Slavic word “uznam” which means “the flow” or “the mouth of the river”. Usedom was first mentioned in the documents in 1140. The main landmarks here are the Gates Anklamer Tor, the church Marienkirche, the monument in honor of bishop Otto fon Bamberg erected to remind the conversion to Christian faith, and, eventually the destroyed bridge (Hubbrücke Karnin). In addition, there is a nature park (Naturparkzentrum) situated right in the old building of the railway station Klaus-Bahlsen-Haus.

Usedom had a railway station till 1945 but it was remodeled into a park. The new station will have appear by 2015. Usedom has a small port with the exit ino small bay Stettiner Haff. The city is also served by its own airport. Eventually, you can reach Usedom by car, following the highway Bundesstraße 110.
