Description:

The capital of Germany, Berlin is the largest and its most occupied city, is also one of the federal lands. It is located in the east of the country, near to border with Poland. In Berlin a considerable quantity of Poles and Turks also lives, there are whole ethnic areas. There are also many sights: parks, cathedrals and even the whole museum island, and, certainly, the legendariest historical monument - the worldwide known Berlin wall.The city has preserved a number of medieval buildings, but its modern shape of the historical part Berlin has acquired in the 18-19 centuries. The beautiful wide streets, such as alley Unter den Linden, have appeared there as well as many architectural ensembles in the Baroque style. After the Second World War, many monuments were restored and regained its original appearance, and even new areas appeared in the eastern part of the city - Lichtenberg and Marzahn. The most famous old buildings in Berlin are the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate, the Church of St. Mary and the Berlin Cathedral.

Climate

Berlin settles down in a temperate climatic zone, mid-annual temperature is about 10 Celsius degrees. In the summer the daily average temperature reaches 18 degrees of Celsius, and falls to zero Celsius degrees in the winter.

Transport

Berlin is serviced by two airports - Tegel and Shyonefeld, which is located outside the city. The major transport system of a city is the Berlin underground. There are also other kinds of public transport, such as a city electric train, a tram and a bus.
