FREIBURG

Description:

Freiburg is one of the oldest cities of Germany. It was founded in the 12th century, and is situated9 in Baden-Württemberg. The main sight of a city is the Freiburger Münster, a stately cathedral in Gothic style. A well-known humanist Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam and, on a legend, the monk, who invented gunpowder, lived there. In spite of the fact that the city was strongly destroyed during both world wars, it could keep the architectural originality - Freiburg is absolutely not similar to other large German cities.

Climate

There is moderately continental climate and extremely fresh mountain air - nearby is the Schwarzwald massif. The mid-annual temperature is about 11 Celsius degrees.

Transport

The nearest airport is in Frankfurt am Main. From all big cities of Germany, it is possible to reach Freiburg by rail. The closest airport is Karlsrue/Baden-Baden, from which you can reach the city by bus.
