LEIPZIG

Description:

Leipzig is one of the oldest cities of Germany and the biggest city of Saxony. One of its informal names is "Messestadt" that in translation from German means "a city of fairs". Here you can see the great variety of the fairs the most known of which is called "The Leipzig International Fair". It is possible to see many things there, from books and to cars. Leipzig is also well-known for the university which is one of the oldest universities of Germany. The greatest German poet Goethe names Leipzig "a small Paris" in his immortal "Faust".

Climate

Climate is moderately continental. Winters are usually warm, summer, as a rule, cooler, than in other parts of Germany. In the south of the city more precipitations drop out, than in the northern part.

Two airports (Leipzig-Halle and Leipzig-Altenburg) are nearby to the city.
