Description:

Munich is the capital of Bavaria and one of the biggest Germany southern cities. It is well known for its brewing traditions. Each real beer lover knows about Oktoberfest – famous annual beer festival. But don’t be surprised if just after coming to Munich in October you will find that fiesta is over. Traditionally the festival is held in the end of September. On the central St. Mary Square there is a Marian Column erected by order of Maximilian I. Around this square many city sights including Old and New Town hall are scattered. The symbol of the city is the Cathedral of Our Lady (Frauenkirche), the tallest Gothic cathedral in the area. Munich could be called the museum city, the most famous are Bavarian National Museum, Glyptotheca, Old and New Pinakothek. Old Pnakothek keeps about 9000 paintings including masterpieces like Albrecht Durer Struggle of Alexander Macedonian with Darius or Leonardo da Vinci Madonna With Child.

Climate

Climate in Munich is mainly temperate, with differentials from marine to continental. Winter is mild, summer is usually warm and cloudy with big precipitations.

Transport

Munich airport is one of the biggest transport junctions in Europe and Munich Railway is the second in passenger traffic after railway station in Hamburg. City has developed network of high-speed trains and also bus ant tram routes.
