OSTSEEBAD KUHLUNGSBORN

Description:

Kuehlungsborn is a German town with the population of 7,5 thousand people. It is situated in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania land. Kuehlungsborn is the biggest resort in this area, it lays on the Mecklenburger Bucht bay. Kuehlungsborn became a resort town in the 15th of February 1996. Beach line reaches 6 km in length. Among attractions are light railroad “Molly” (Dampf-Schmalspurbahn „Molli“) constructed in 1886, forested mountain chain (Kühlung), the church of XIII century (Frühgotische Johanniskirche), The Watch tower (Ostsee-Grenzturm), the seafront Ostsee-Strandpromenade and the monument to victims of fascism (Denkmal für die Opfer des Faschismus).

Climate

Precipitations are light (about 635 mm a year). The driest month is February and the wettest one is July.

Transport

The nearest airport is in Rostock (Flughafen Rostock-Laage). Light railroad “Molly” is still functioning.
