Situated 9 kilometers far from Chania, at the West, Aghia Marina is a village by the sea, fully developed in a tourist resort, which, along with the nearby settlements of Stalos and Kato Stalos, counts approximately 1450 permanent residents. If you wish to see the famous kri-kri, the Cretan wild goat, you should visit the tiny island of Aghioi Theodoroi. Excursion boats from Chania, or private boats from Aghia Marina will get you there. Don’t forget to ask for permission from the Forest Inspection agency, prior to visiting the island; the place is protected and access is restricted. Two local feasts (“panighyri”) take place in the village on the 25 th of March in honor of Annunciation of Virgin Mary and on the 17 th of July in honor of Aghia Marina. Lodging is plenty in Aghia Marina. A lot of hotels of all categories and for all budgets, rooms to let, studios and houses are available for tourists. Eating is an easy thing: a wide range of taverns and restaurants of any taste, cafes and bars are ready to offer their delicacies. As a tourist resort, Aghia Marina has an intense nightlife. Discos, bars and clubs with foreign and Greek music promise that your nights won’t be dull at all.
