DHELFOI

Description:

Delphi is an old town on the foot of Parnassus Mount that is home to famous Apollo Sanctuary and Oracle. From VIII century BC Delphi hold Pythian Games, to participate came athletes from all over the country. Sport competitions were accompanied by musical and theatre performances. Delphi was rich and vibrant cultural and spiritual center of Greece. Today this is a small town very attractive for tourists as many unique sites have preserved there: already mentioned Apollo Sanctuary and treasury, athletes sculptures, gymnasium, hippodrome, Castalian spring, theatre, Athena Sanctuary and more. In winter Parnassus Mountain is perfect for skiing.

Climate

Climate is Mediterranean, very comfortable. Winter is mild and wet (January temperature is 6-15C), summer is dry and moderately hot (in August temperature can rich 35C). Spring and autumn are transition seasons with light precipitations.

Transport

There are numerous buses run to Athens (about 3 hours drive), Delphi itself can be easily explored on foot.
