Description:

The island Ios is included into the group of Kikladsky islands. Ios is located between Naxos and Santorini and is a snow-white city of churches. The basic sights - Sacred Irina%27s churchlet on the right at an input in port and snow-white Chorus over the port, climbed up mountain with a churchlet at top. Walking on Iosu, it is possible to find out many the cozy cafes, interesting shops, taverns. The legend says that on Iose the Homere has been buried. A tomb of the Homere see in ruins in district Plakoto. Also it is possible to visit Arheologo-museum of local lore in capital and the Museum of Modern Art (Drot-Гаити) in a place of Kolitsani.

Climate

Ios has a typical Cycladic climate consisting in a mild winter with low rainfalls, a cool spring and autumn and a dry, shinny and hot summer with average temperatures of 29 degrees during day time that are forced down by the meltemia north winds during late July and early August.

Transport

The island is connected with Peraeus (distance - 11 n miles) flights of ferries within round year, and in the summer also - flights of high-speed catamarans. With Iosa it is possible to go on other Kikladsky islands, and also to Crete and Dodekanisa.
