LAGANAS

Description:

Laganas is a small town on the Zakynthos Island in the Ionian Sea. Laganos has reach history: until XIX century before it became a Greek town, Laganas had belonged to France, Russia, Turkey and Great Britain. After World War II and 1953 earthquake almost all Laganas buildings were rebuilt. Today Laganas is a very popular among European young people holiday destination, it counts more than 100 drink venues and clubs. Laganas is also a very important place for sea turtles. They come here in summer months and lay their eggs on one of the beaches, a reserve area that is strictly protected.

Climate

Climate is Mediterranean, very comfortable. Winter is mild, nearly without rain. Summer is dry and moderately hot. Tourist season lasts from May to October. The sun shines almost the whole year.

Transport

Airport and the capital of the island (Zakynthos City) are very close to Laganas. You can reach them by bus, taxi or even on foot. Peloponnesus peninsula is only 18 km away.
