Description:

Naxos is a Greek island, the largest island in the Cyclades island group in the Aegean. It was the centre of archaic Cycladic culture. Naxos is a popular tourist destination, with several easily accessible ruins. It has a number of beautiful beaches, such as those at Agia Anna, Agios Prokopios, Alikos, Kastraki, Mikri Vigla, Plaka, and Agios Georgios, most of them near Hora. Naxos is the most fertile island of the Cyclades. It has a good supply of water in a region where water is usually inadequate. The capital of the island, Hora, is a big and unique village in Greece. It has a well-preserved Venetian castle and it is full of beautiful whitewashed houses with small windows, surrounded by stone-paved narrow alleys.

Climate

Because Naxos Island is located in the middle of the Cycladic group, it is even more exposed to those winds, which make it an ideal island for windsurfing and explain why it is so popular among windsurfer, who come to Naxos from all around the world.It is a typical Mediterranean climate characterized by mild winters with low rainfalls and hot, dry summers. Temperature in winter 14°C, in summer 30°C.
