PIRAEUS

Description:

Piraeus is the main port city of Greece, it situated very close to Athens. The population is about 180 thousand people. Piraeus is a noisy trade and industrial city, its port is considered to be the third largest in passenger turnover in the world (about 20 million people a year). Piraeus archeological museum in spite of its modest size keeps real treasures (for example, bronze Apollo and Athena statues of Archaic and Classic periods). Having walked around seafronts and watched elegant yachts in your fill, go to Athens or to one of the marvelous Greek islands.

Climate

Climate is Mediterranean. Winter is mild, airfrosts and snow are extremely rare. Summer is hot and dry, sometimes there are no any precipitations for months. Because of the Mediterranean Sea proximity autumn is long and the spring starts later than usually.

Transport

From Athens to Piraeus and its port there is a Metro line, also you can use express bus from Athens airport straight to the port. Piraeus itself can be easily explored on foot.
