CAPACCIO

Description:

Capaccio is a town in Salerno province in Campania. This place use to be known as Poseidonia or Paestrum that was one of the biggest centers of Great Greece (Greek territories in Italy). Today on the place of Paestrum there is archeological park open for visitors, on its territory was preserved Neptune Temple, Ceres Temple and Basilica, amphitheatre, etc. Today Capaccio offers various attractions: parachute jump, flight on a deltaplan, wind surfing, kite and horse ride. In summer Capaccio holds numerous festivals, the best on is Cinema Festival on the main square, also you can visit National museum at night, enjoy Palestrum exhibition and watch equestrian sport competitions.

Climate

Capaccio climate is Mediterranean, summer is hot and dry, winter is mild and rainy. However in summer air is chilled with sea breeze that blows from the bay.

Transport

The nearest airport is Aeroporto di Salerno-Pontecagnano, Naples Capodichino airport is also quite close. Capaccio has two railway stations (Stazione di Capaccio-Roccadaspide and Stazione di Paestum).
