CEFALU

Description:

Cefalù is a city, located on the Northern coast of Sicily. Mountains rise next to Cefalù and create a perfect panorama that us worth seeing. Being quite small, Cefalù attracts millions of tourists every year both from Italy and abroad. An enormous natural park Parco delle Madonie occupies territory aroun Cefalù. The main cathedral was constructed in 12 century, being one of the biggest in Sicily. Its look resembles a fortress while the interior is decorated with byzantine mosaics. In Cefalù you can feel the charm of old medieval streets, visit the old port (Piazza Marina) and climb the mountain rising behind the city. On the top of the mountain you can see an ancient temple devoted to Diana a and a beautiful sight on the bay. Besides being very valuable from historical point, Cefalù is first of all a very good resort with maybe the best beaches in Sicily.

Climate

Cefalù is located in a zone of Mediterranean climate with dry hot summers. Though the air is cooled by an African wind called siocco. Winters in Cefalù are mild and rainy. In general, the temperatures in Cefalù are moderate and that makes climate very comfortable for living and recreation.

Transport

The closest airports are the one of Catania (183 km), the international airport of Palermo (100 km). You can get to Cefalù from these cities by train or bus.
