Description:
Como is a city in Lombardia and the capital of the same name province situated on the Como Lake. Historic center of the city locates on the seafront several steps from huge Como cathedral. In the city planning you can still feel Roman influence, meanwhile perfectly preserved fortification walls and patrol towers scattered around the city betrays medieval past. There are both Ancient Roman archeological excavations and fascist period palaces built by Joseph Terrangi, a famous architecture of those times. In the Villa Olmo palace you can see different exhibitions of high standard. Great scientist Alessandro Volta comes from Como. In 31st of August the city holds colorful celebration festa di Sant%27Abbondio. Be sure to take a ride on Como funicular and walk along beautiful seafront.

Climate in Como is continental because of the influence of Garda Lake and special landscape. Summer is hot (no lower than +24C) and winter is cold (about +1C). Humidity is heightened during the whole year, this leads to frequent mists.Transport
Como has two railway stations (Como San Giovanni and Como Lago). The nearest airports are Lugano-Agno, Milano Malpensa and Orio al Serio. Funicular line Brunate Como started working in 1894, it’s important landmark.
