CORTONA
Description:
Cortona is a beautiful town in the Arezzo province of Tuscany, Italy. In the past the town was a participant of so-called Etruscan League that was in war with Rome. However, in 301 B.C. Cortona was assaulted by the Romans and annexed. Today the ancient walls reveal the Etruscan origin of the town, while in the archaeological park and in vicinity of Cortona there are many Etruscan tombs. In Cortona there are some monuments to see: the Palazzo Communale on the central square Piazza della Repubblica, the cathedral Duomo di Cortona of Romanic style that is the main religious construction of the town. Also don%27t forget to visit the Etruscan museum and the Diocesan Museum of Cortona.

Cortona has a typical mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild rainy winters. Snow and frost usually don not happen here.Transport
The closest airports are Galileo Galilei of Siena and Amerigo Vespucci near Florence. In Cortona there are two railway stations: Terontola-Cortona and Camucia-Cortona. Between the stations and the central of the town buses circulate being a part of Etruria-Mobility network.
