GALLIPOLI
Description:
Gallipoli is a city in the Lecce province in Apulia, one of the biggest in the region. For convenience Gallipoli is divided into two parts: Bargo (new town) and Chitta Antika (old town) that is situated on the small island connected with mainland by only one bridge. San Antonio island provides great interest from the historic point of view. It is enclosed with powerful fortifications of XV century and filled with ancient churches and palaces. The main cathedral of the city (Concattedrale di Sant%27Agata) was built in XVII century, this is great example of baroque architecture. Gallipoli holds its own carnival and many other celebrations.

Gallipoli climate is Mediterranean with hot and dry summer and mild and humid winter. Droughts in summer are common.Transport
The nearest airports are Aeroporto Internazionale del Salento in Brindisi, Aeroporto "Marcello Arlotta" in Taranto, and Aeroporto internazionale "Karol Wojtyla" in Bari. Gallipoli has its own railway station, you can get around the city by bus.
