GRADO

Description:

Grado is a town in Gorizia province in the Friuli Venice Julia region. Being important tourist and termal center Grado is often called “Island of Sun” and sometimes “The First Venice” because of its history. Grado is situated in the middle of the same name lagoon that includes 30 islands. Grado historic center is situated on the Maggiore Island but other island are also included in city. Religious architecture of the city is interesting and various, mosaics are also worth mentioning. The main celebration of this place is Perdòn de Barbana in July.

Climate

Grado climate differs from typical Italian, it is transitional from continental to Mediterranean and therefore it is milder and more humid. Winter experiences some snow.

Transport

The nearest airport is L’ aeroporto di Trieste, L’aeroporto internazionale Marco Polo near Venice is also quite close. The nearest railway station is Cervignano del Friuli.
