Description:

Lignano Sabbiadoro is a resort in Udine province in Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, one of the most known resorts of the region. In the north Lignano Sabbiadoro is confined by the Alps and the Italian-Austrian border, in the east - by the Italian-Slovenian border, and by the Adriatic sea in the south. The town started to develop as a resort just in 1930s, however today you can find here many entertainments, the biggest stadiums on sand in Europe, 8-km long beach with gold sand (as one can guess from the name Lignano Sabbiadoro) and clean azure sea.

Climate

Weather in Lignano Sabbiadoro differs from a typical Italian one: it is transitive from continental to Mediterranean climate so it is milder and more humid. It sometimes snows in winter, though the snow never last too long and thaw. Summer is the best time to visit Lignano Sabbiadoro.

Transport

Lignano Sabbiadoro is located 70 km. from Udine, 90 km. from Venice and Trieste. The airports Marco Polo and Friuli-Venezia Giulia are the closest. The resort does not have any railway station, however one can get here by can or bus.
