LIPARI

Description:

Lipari is a resort in the province of Messina in Italy. It is also one of the Lipari islands with a total area of 37 sq. km. The islands are picturesque due to their volcanic origin and presence of different grottoes, beaches and other natural beauties. The main beaches of Lipari are Ponente and Spiaggia Bianca, while the mountain Kirika dminates the island. The historical part of Lipari was build by the Greeks, though today the constructions of 13 century are more prominent. The Norman churches, Greek and Roman ruins in the archaeological park, a fortress, towers and museums - all this you can see in Lipari.

Climate

Lipari belongs to a zone of Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers. Though the air is cooled by an African wind called sirocco. Winters in Lipari are mild and rainy. In general, temperatures in Lipari are moderate and that makes the climate very comfortable for living and recreation.

Transport

You can get to Lipari by ferry from Milazzo, Messina, Reggio Calabria, Palermo and Naples. To arrive in these cities take a train, then get to port by bus or train. For instance, Milazzo%27s port is 1 km distant from its center. The closest airports are Fontana Rossa in Catania, the airport of Reggio Calabria, Falcone Borsellino next to Palermo. As it was noticed, the best ways to get to Lipari is from Milazzo and Messina as these cities are the closest.
