MARSALA

Description:

Marsala is a big city in the Trapani province in Sicily. It is famous as the place where Garibaldi landed in 1860 with his supporters and as the place where famous wine Marsala is produced. Marsala stands on the ruins of ancient town Lilibelum, it left reach archeological heritage that you can see on city streets and in the big Biagio Anselmi Archeological Museum. Marsala has preserved till today Hellenistic town planning, in the eastern part rises above impressive castle. In the Marsala Bay there is archipelago stagnone with natural reserve, wind mills and salterns, all these makes unforgettable view. Marsala has reach culture, it is definitely worth visiting for every antiquities lover.

Climate

Marsala is situated in the Mediterranean climate zone. Summer is dry and hot but air is cooled by African sirocco. Winter is mild and rainy. In general temperatures are temperate and climate is favorable for rest and living.

Transport

Trapani (the capital of the province) has a small airport (15 km from Marsala, you can reach it by bus or tarin). From Marsala port you can go to beautiful Aegadian Islands.
