The international airport of Palermo is situated close to the island capital (32 km). Also one can get to Palermo in a ferry from Cagliary (Sardinia), Genoa, Civitavecchia (Lazio) and Naples. Indeed one can arrive in Palermo by train that goes through the Messina strait from the continental Italy.
