Description:
Pisa is located in Tuscany and is one of the most famous Italian cities. According to a legend, Pisa was found by the Greeks who ran from captured Troy. Pisa today is known for Saint Maria campanile, or Leaning tower, that has already become one of the symbols of Italy. The tower was built in 12 century as well as the other principal Pisa%27s monuments. However in the city there are actually three leaning towers (also the campanile of San Michele di Scalzi church and that of San Nicola church). The Leaning tower, together with the cathedral, baptistery and churchyard (camposanto), form the architectural complex in Romanic style, that is situated on the main square of Pisa. The complex was declared a part of the UNESCO world heritage while the central square is called Campo dei Miracoli. When in Pisa, walk along the quay of Arno river. Pisa is also famous for being the birthplace of Galileo Galilei, and here he carried out some of his tests. In summer in Pisa some festivals are held, the most attractive are Luminara and Gioco del Ponte. During the Luminara night, the quay of Arno is illuminated with thousands of candles.
Climate
Pisa has Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild rainy winters. The climate is largely influences by the Arno valley and the proximity of sea, and all this make the climate cooler.Transport
Near Pisa the airport Galileo Galilei is located. One can get to Pisa by train (Pisa Centrale station) or by car. From the airport to the city center buses go, the road takes about 15 minutes.
