RADDA IN CHIANTI

Description:

Radda in Chianti is a medieval town situated on the hill between Arbia and Pesa valleys in Siena province, Toscana. This place was inhabited since IX century, some time after town was surrounded by massive fortification walls. Being under Florence control Radda in Chianti was the capital of Liga Chianti and still remains its medieval appearance. Narrow streets meet on the main square where you can see San Niccolò cathedral in Roman style. Franciscan monastery Santa Maria in Prato, Palazzo del Podestà palace and Sacred Art Museum (Museo d%27arte sacra del Chianti) also deserve attention.

Climate

Climate is Mediterranean, summer is hot and dry, winter is mild and rainy. Snow and airfrosts are exceptionally rare.

The nearest airports are Aeroporto di Firenze (90 km) and Aeroporto di Pisa (174 km). You also can reach Radda in Chianti by train or bus from Rome and Florence.
