SIRMIONE

Description:

Sirmione is a town situated on the Garda lake in Lombardia in Italy, that is sometimes called "Pearl of Garda". Its historical center occupies the peninsula that divides the southern part of the lake. Sirmione is a popular tourist destination for some reasons. Here different ancient monuments were preserved, with Grotte di Catullo, ancient Roman villa. Also in Sirmione there are thermal resorts Catullo and Virgilio. Sirmione is a center of religious tourism and a picturesque place.

Climate

Sirmione%27s weather is continental, however the Garda lake, located near the resort, influences the climate. Summers are hot (+24), winters are cold (+1), while humidity is high during the year, especially in winters and this favors appearance of fogs.

Transport

The closest airports are Catullo near Verona (30 km.), Gabriele D%27Annunzio near Brescia (40 km.). In the town there is not any railway station though you can arrive at those of Peschiera (11 km.) and Desenzano (10 km.). In order to get to Sirmione from the airports and these stations you need to take taxi of local buses.
