Venice is one of the most beautiful and romantic city in the world. It is built on islands and completely surrounded by water with the Grand Canal winding through the city. The best way to explore the canals is to take a ride in one of Venice famous gondolas or a simply ride on one of the many ferries. The city has its own very distinctive style in which the East and the West merged and reflects the glorious past of the Venetian republic. Admire the great masterpieces of the Venetian masters with their palaces, chapels and church art, villas, theaters, the Murano glass, Venetian lace to name some of its famous heritage. The Venetian carnival taking place every year in late February is well known worldwide. Venice is a top destination and has become Italy%27s best tourist attraction.

Climate

The weather in Venice is different than the typical Italian pattern. It is more a mix of continental and Mediterranean climates resulting in a milder and more humid one. It sometimes snows in winter but the snow never last too long. Summers are often very hot and it is not recommended to visit in the height of that season. Summers also see an increase of tourists and the canals can be very smelly.

Transport

The main airport is the Marco Polo airport and it is not very far from Venice. There are trains to the city and the main station is the Santa Lucia Station. The only way to move around Venice is by water transport or by walking.
